The Pro Wrestling League is a big leap in the history of the oldest combat sport. An initiative of ProSportify and Wrestling Federation of India, PWL is the richest wrestling event ever. In the inaugural year, the league offered a prize purse of Rupees 15 crore including the total prize purse of Rs. 3 crore.
To promote the first season of PWL, the organizers wanted to create a major digital buzz around the event centred around informing viewers about the star potential of the wrestlers and get the various hashtags related to the event to trend on Facebook.
Hashtag-based influencer activity
In order to create an enormous digital buzz around PWL, Blogweet executed a hashtag based campaign for 15 days, in which we promoted one hashtag per day through a series of sustained influencer activities.
We received an overwhelming response on Twitter for the PWL campaign and got each hashtag to trend in the top 5 spots for all 15 days. This resulted in a sharp spike in the total viewership of the event, which was exactly what the client desired.
